U-Pick (Pick Your Own)U-pick provides you with the opportunity to enter our orchard to select the variety and quantity of cherries you wish to purchase at your own pace. You can leisurely stroll about carefully selecting the very best fruit, or whip around focusing on filling your bucket quickly so you have time to visit other attractions in the Yarra Valley. We don’t mind either way so long as you enjoy yourself – and the cherries! You must pay for the fruit you pick. Our buckets, when full, contain approximately five kilograms of cherries so if you only want 2 kg please only half fill your bucket! We understand you’ll want to sample the fruit directly from the trees, in fact we want you to, but we do not operate an "all you can eat service"; we only charge a nominal entry fee to encourage families to enjoy a day out but we do expect that our customers will pick some cherries to take home with them. U-pick is a great experience and fortunately we have one of the most attractive orchard’s in the valley – come and see for yourself. We offer very competitive rates on our entry fee plus the price of fruit. We are also unique in offering a season pass allowing repeated visits within the season without further charge. And conveniently, you can drive right next door to our neighbours at Jay Berries to U-pick or purchase strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Please follow the above link to their website for availability of fruits and opening times, they are closed every Saturday. What we provide
- Picking bucket(s), instructions - and of course the orchard
- Tap water from a hose
- Portable toilets
What you need to bring
- Although picking cherries can be a most enjoyable and rewarding experience, it is wise to come prepared. You should wear sturdy footwear and, if it’s hot, sun-block and a hat is advised.
Weather Please check the BOM website for latest weather updates before you visit. http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/forecasts/yarraglen.shtml
And bear in mind that the weather in the Yarra Valley can be quite different to that in Melbourne. Reminders We
are a farm, for your own comfort, please dress appropriately. Don't
forget sunscreen and hats on hot days and remember that it is probably
wise to bring a coat on mild days in case the weather turns.
Please
do not sit or stand on the picking buckets we supply for you. They are
not designed for this purpose and may lead to injury to yourself and
almost definitely to the bucket.
Kindly consider the environment
and bring all of your rubbish out of the orchard with you - if you bring
it in surely you can take it out again.
As our farm is also our
home we ask that you respect our privacy by not entering the areas
bounded within the lawn about the house.
